Conception and Development of a System Family for an Universal Remote Control
Palm-Handhelds can be used as a remote control via the the IrDA interface. Objective of this work is to develop a
concept allowing the creation of a system family which enables the combination
of different features within one remote control. It is necessary to elaborate a (eventually not
complete) list of the features and functions to be implemented. Furthermore the concept should be designed
in a way, that different components can be combined in as desired. Additionally,
the individual user adaption of different operating controls should be assured.
Usage scenarios and funcionalities of the handheld beyond a simple remote
control will also be evaluated in this work and implemented accordingly.
A system family architecture and its integration in the current video system will be developed. Thus, the interaction of this subproject with the vdr-project needs to be considered. A software for Palm-Handhelds will be prototypically developed to test and evaluate the elaborated concept.
